Guns, Germs, and Steel Part 2

1. At the time that the Spanish conquistadores invaded the Inca Empire, they were armed with state of the art weaponry. Describe this weaponry.
Horses that made them appear like god-like half man, half beast warriors, body armor, guns, and steel swords.

2. What is Jared Diamond’s explanation for why the Spanish had advanced to steel swords while Inca’s were still making tools and weapons from bronze?
Because Europe was geographically close to the Fertile Crescent, they had many more advances than the other people. Their metal technology was so advanced for them it helped them create much stronger swords. They were also a diverse society which helped them advanced in different things.

3. How did the battle tactics used by the Spanish conquistadors help the small army defeat the  Inca army that outnumbered it by the thousands?
The first thing they did to help them defeat the bigger army was they caught them by surprise on horseback firing their guns at them. While they were rushing they were using their swords in so many ways while the Incas were panicking instead of holding their ground. If the Incas would have simply stood their ground they would have won just because of numbers.

4. According to Jared Diamond, what made the Europeans “accidental conquerors”?

Because of their location, the Europeans were the first to even discover germs, guns, and steel. This helped them defeat smaller towns and civilizations that were no where near as advanced as them.
